Description

The OUTEQ FL8 is a compact rechargeable LED flashlight with a dual light system that combines a spot beam for distance with a flood light for close-range awareness. A body just 92 millimetres long and 91.3 grams light packs a light output of up to 3,100 lumens and a beam distance of up to 189 metres. It runs on a replaceable 18350 cell and charges over USB-C directly in the body.

Key features

  • Light output up to 3,100 lumens and a beam distance up to 189 metres: full-size performance in a body 92 mm long and 91.3 g with the battery.
  • Dual light system: a spot beam for distance, a flood light for your surroundings, or both at once as the situation demands.
  • USB-C charging directly in the body: all it takes is the included cable and an ordinary phone charger, and the cell stays in while charging.
  • Replaceable 18350 cell: when it wears out, you replace the battery, not the whole flashlight.
  • Five lighting modes with memory: the flashlight comes back on in the last mode used, so you never hunt for your setting.

Features

Up to 3,100 lumens in a pocket-sized body

Seven LEDs handle the light: six 3535 diodes for the flood beam and one 5050 diode for the spot beam. Together they produce up to 3,100 lumens, with the spot diode reaching up to 189 metres. That kind of output is usually the domain of larger handheld flashlights, yet the FL8 carries it in a 92 mm body that disappears into a jacket or trouser pocket. It earns its place wherever a bigger light never gets taken: walking the dog, heading home after dark, or the top pocket of a backpack.

Spot and flood light in three combinations

The centre diode casts a narrow spot beam reaching up to 189 metres, while the six diodes around it add a wide flood light for your immediate surroundings. Holding the button switches between three configurations: spot only, flood only, or both at once; the maximum output of up to 3,100 lumens comes from combining both sources. The spot beam helps when picking out a trail marker or an animal at the forest edge, the flood light suits work around the car or in camp, and the combination shows the path ahead and the ground under your feet. One flashlight covers situations that normally force a choice between reach and coverage.

Five lighting modes with last-mode memory

The flashlight offers five modes: High, Medium, Low, Strobe and SOS. A single side button handles everything and works with a thumb even in gloves: a click turns the light on and off, holding it switches the beam configuration, a double click starts the strobe and another double click SOS. The memory function stores the last mode used, strobe and SOS excepted, so the light comes back on exactly as you switched it off; no surprise full blast at the tent in the middle of the night when you had been running it low.

Replaceable 18350 cell

Power comes from a single replaceable 18350 Li-ion cell with a capacity of 1,100 mAh (3.7 V, 4.07 Wh). Lithium cells naturally lose capacity after hundreds of charge cycles; with a permanently built-in battery that is the end of the whole device, whereas with the FL8 you just drop in a new cell and keep going. With both light sources running it lasts roughly 60 minutes at full output and roughly 198 minutes at the economical low level, so a charged spare is worth packing for multi-day trips away from an outlet.

USB-C charging directly in the body

The USB-C connector sits directly in the flashlight body under a rubber flap, so the cell stays in place while charging and no separate charger is needed. The 5V⎓1A input works out to a full charge in roughly 3 hours using an ordinary phone charger and the USB-C to USB-C cable included in the box. Outside charging, the flap keeps the port sealed against dirt.

An aluminium alloy body for the pocket

The 6063 aluminium alloy body with an anodised finish measures 92 millimetres in length, the head is 44.5 mm and the body 23 mm in diameter; with the battery inserted the flashlight weighs 91.3 grams. Aluminium gives the construction the stiffness for outdoor use and the anodised layer protects the surface from wear. The flashlight shrugs off rain and splashing water but is not meant to be submerged. Its dimensions fit a trouser pocket, a car cubby or the top pocket of a backpack.

Frequently asked questions

Your most common questions.

Is the flashlight waterproof?

The flashlight is rated IPX4, which protects it against splashing water from any direction – rain or a wet backpack is no problem.

It is not designed to be submerged in water.

How does the flashlight charge?

Through the USB-C connector directly in the body – no need to remove the battery. An ordinary phone charger or a power bank with a 5V⎓1A input and the included USB-C to USB-C cable is all it takes; a full charge takes roughly 3 hours.

Can I replace the battery?

Yes. Inside is a standard replaceable 18350 Li-ion cell with a capacity of 1,100 mAh, and one is included in the box.

When the cell wears out, you simply swap it for a new one.

What lighting modes does it have?

Five modes: High, Medium, Low, Strobe and SOS, with a memory function for the last mode used.

On top of that you switch between three beam configurations – spot for distance, flood for your surroundings, or both at once.
