Description

The OUTEQ HL2 is a compact rechargeable LED headlamp whose light module detaches from the head strap without tools and works on its own as a handheld work light. Three LEDs with optical lenses deliver up to 1,150 lumens with a throw of up to 100 metres, and the head tilts through 180°. The built-in battery charges over USB-C directly in the body, while the magnetic base with a reversible stainless clip holds the light on metal, a belt or in a pocket.

Key features

  • The light module unclips from the head strap without tools, turning the headlamp into a hand torch that starts in the last mode used.
  • Three LEDs with optical lenses deliver up to 1,150 lumens and a focused 100-metre beam from a module that fits in your palm.
  • The head tilts through 180°, so the beam points exactly where you need it, on the strap or in your hand.
  • The magnetic base and double-sided stainless clip hold the light on metal, a belt or a pocket and leave both hands free.
  • It charges over USB-C directly in the body from an ordinary phone adapter, and a colour LED shows charging progress and battery level.

Features

A headlamp and handheld light in one

The light module detaches from the head strap without tools, so the headlamp becomes a handheld light in seconds. When you switch it on, the memory function returns to your last-used mode without cycling through the whole sequence. One light covers two roles that usually take two devices: a headlamp for moving in the dark and a handheld light for work. On the strap, the beam points wherever you are looking – useful when walking night terrain or working overhead. Detached, the module serves as a work light at a distribution board, under a car bonnet, or anywhere you need light from a different angle than your head is facing. Switching between the two uses needs no extra accessories, and the module clicks back into the strap cradle any time.

Up to 1,150 lumens and five lighting modes

The light section uses three LEDs with optical lenses that form a focused beam of up to 1,150 lumens reaching 100 metres. That is more than enough to light a work spot, a trail or the area around camp, but the HL2 does not aim for long throw – its domain is the near and middle field. The side button cycles through Low, Medium and High, followed by Strobe and SOS for signalling. A double click starts smooth dimming so you can set the exact brightness between minimum and maximum, and a long press turns the light off.

Head tilts through 180°

The head with the light module tilts through 180°, so you can aim the beam at your feet, straight ahead or vertically upward without tilting your whole head or the light itself. On the strap this removes the compromise of fixed headlamps that only shine straight forward.

Magnetic base and reversible stainless clip

A magnet in the base attaches the module to a bonnet, a distribution box, a shelf or any other steel surface. The magnet holds the module even on a vertical surface, so the light keeps pointing where it is needed. A reversible stainless-steel clip holds the light on a belt, a pocket or a pack strap, and it fits either way round – light facing up or down. That lets the module serve as personal chest lighting while you work or move through the dark, without occupying a hand. Stainless steel also takes frequent clipping and damp without corroding.

Aluminium body rated IP68

The body is aluminium alloy with a hard-anodised finish that draws heat away from the LEDs during longer runs at higher output and resists abrasion in everyday carry. The IP68 rating protects the electronics against dust and water, so the light works in rain, snow and dusty conditions. It is not intended for diving or extended immersion – this is durability for ordinary outdoor conditions.

USB-C charging with a battery level indicator

The HL2 charges through a USB-C connector in the body itself; the included cable and an ordinary phone adapter are enough, with a 5V⎓1A input. The built-in 1,000 mAh battery charges fully in roughly 1.5 hours; the indicator glows red while charging and green when done. A colour LED also monitors the battery during use: green means 30 to 100% capacity, red 10 to 30%, and flashing red warns of a drop below 10%, so running flat never comes without warning. A rubber plug covers the connector, protecting it from dust and moisture.

Palm and pocket sized

The light module measures 66 x 25 x 31 mm, so it disappears into your palm and takes up about as much pocket space as a lighter. The head strap is 650 mm long and 24 mm wide, and the complete headlamp weighs 136 g. The low weight shows most during longer wear, when heavier headlamps start to press, and the small size means the HL2 can live permanently in a jacket pocket, a car cubby or a tool drawer.

Frequently asked questions

Your most common questions.

How long does the battery last?

The built-in Li-ion battery has a capacity of 1,000 mAh (3.7 Wh) and charges fully over USB-C in roughly 1.5 hours – the included cable and an ordinary phone adapter (5V⎓1A) are all you need.

Runtime varies with the mode. A colour LED monitors the battery continuously: green means 30–100% capacity, red 10–30%, and flashing red warns of a drop below 10%, so running flat never comes without warning.

Is it suitable for rain?

Yes. The IP68 rating protects the electronics against dust and water, so the headlamp works without trouble in rain, snow and dusty conditions.

It is not intended for diving or extended immersion, though – this is durability for ordinary outdoor conditions.

Can it be operated with gloves on?

Yes, the HL2 is operated by a single side button: short presses cycle the modes, a double click starts smooth dimming and a long press turns it off.

You can also detach the light module from the strap without tools and stick it to metal with the magnetic base, or clip it to a pocket, leaving both hands free.
